Akureyri Letters to Icelandic Scouts during JOTI Message

A MESSAGE TO JOTA/JOTI FROM THE ICELANDIC SCOUTS

Dear Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts near and far.

I send this message around the world to remind you all to keep your spirit young and alert. As you all know, the Scout Oath is a good foundation to successful life and a happy one. What you should do is to teach others the meaning of the Scout Oath by your own example. Have the courage to follow your heart when others loose their track and get lost.

What makes a Scout is not necessary the uniform, but his mind and his spirit. It is said that people is afraid of the unknown, not to mention strange people. That may be true. Therefore, during the Jota and Joti worldwide, use this opportunity to get acquainted with other Scouts wherever they may be.

Make contacts with Scouts of other culture, religion, race or color, and exchange meaningful words. Better still, get addressees and communicate with letters after Jota and Joti. This way, you will be using your Scout spirit to make the world better.

With regards from the Icelandic Scout Community
